| Car and Driver features GTM | |
|
Factory Five Press Release From August 2007 We handed the keys to our LS7 powered GTM to Larry Webster, Technical Editor at Car & Driver some months ago, and held our collective breath. The editors at Car and Driver don’t candy-coat things – if things go wrong, they’re not going to pull any punches. And a million people will know about it immediately. After taking some laps in the car at the Bondurant School in Phoenix, AZ, we knew that Larry liked the car. In fact, we virtually had to drag him out of the cockpit. Larry drove the car for the better half of three days and really liked the car and the way it performed. He was so satisfied, in fact, that he requested to have it shipped up to Michigan for additional testing. Or perhaps to show a Ford GT how it’s done. The results, in the September issue, are remarkable:
Just for comparison, that’s faster than a Mosler MT900 (3.1sec), a Ferrari Enzo (3.3 sec), a Saleen S7 (3.3 sec), a Ford GT (3.5 sec) and a Lambo Murcielago (a yawning 3.8 sec.) For those keeping score at home, you can complete your GTM just like the one that Car and Driver tested for half of the Ford GT sticker price and a tenth of the cardiac arresting Enzo entry fee!
To put it in perspective, the GTM would run a dead heat with a Mosler, while blowing the doors off of everyone of the other “supercars”!
After 1g, most of the competition has already skidded off the pad.
That’s impressive, the Ford GT was still screeching to a halt after 172 feet, now consider that was achieved with manual brakes! |
